Valparaiso University’s Shaunna Dangremond (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino H.S.) and Kristy Shew (Terre Haute, Ind./North Vigo H.S.) were both named to the Horizon League’s All-Academic Team for women’s swimming.

Dangremond turned in Valpo’s top times for the year in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes with marks of 1:01.40 and 2:12.26 respectively.  The junior also posted Valpo’s best 200 individual medley time of the year at 2:14.42 while swimming leadoff on the team’s 200 and 400 medley relays.

Earning Horizon League All-Academic Team accolades for the second straight season, Dangremond has also been named to the Horizon League’s Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls each of the last two years.  An accounting and Spanish major with a 3.79 cumulative grade point average, she spent the fall semester studying abroad in Spain.

Shew posted the fastest 500 and 1000 freestyle times of the season for the Brown and Gold with marks of 5:25.84 and 11:05.79 respectively.  She also swam the school’s second best 100 free (56.02) and 200 free (2:01.97) times of the season while anchoring the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle relays.

A senior, Shew has been named to the Horizon League’s Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls for the past three seasons, since the Crusaders joined the conference.  A political science and theology double major, Shew has a 3.89 cumulative grade point average.
