Valparaiso University’s Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charleow Flanigan H.S.) has been named this week’s Horizon League Swimmer of the Week after posting three event wins, including two individual events, while helping lead the Crusaders to a victory over Saint Mary’s (Ind.) on Saturday.
Segatto, a freshman, posted a 30-second triumph in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:06.64 to start her day. She added another triumph in the 500 freestyle, this time by more than 12 seconds, touching the wall in 5:27.24. The rookie then concluded her day swimming the third leg of the victorious 400 freestyle relay that turned in a mark of 3:55.07.
Segatto and the Crusaders earned their first victory of the season by a score of 137-66 against the Belles.
Valparaiso returns to the water this Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio, facing both Cleveland State and Saint Bonaventure. The first event begins at noon.
