Crusader Women Fall Short in Double Dual Friday

Valparaiso’s women’s swim team dropped both ends of a double dual meet on Friday evening in Chicago, Ill., falling 203-31 to Illinois State and 194-38 against UIC.

Alex Caruthers (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard H.S.) finished with the day’s sixth best mark in the 1000 freestyle, touching the wall in 11:27.46.

Natalie Jarrett (Lebanon, Ind./Western Boone H.S.) added a sixth place effort for the Crusaders in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.38.

Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charleow Flanigan  H.S.) turned in the seventh fastest 500 freestyle time of the night with a mark of 5:26.93.

Valparaiso (1-9) will return to action on Sunday with an 11 a.m. meet in Fishers, Ind.  The Crusaders will face Butler, Xavier (Ohio), Youngstown State, Ball State and Hillsdale.
