Wright Earns MVC Swimmer of the Week Award

After competing on two consecutive days last week, Valparaiso University sophomore Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) has won the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week award. Wright collected three wins and four second-place finishes over the course of a successful week in the pool.

On Friday at Rose-Hulman, Wright acquired wins in the 50 free (25.52) and 100 free (55.60) individually, while also swimming as part of the victorious 200 free relay (1:45.59).

Wright had another successful day as the Crusaders hosted Saginaw Valley State on Saturday. In her individual events, the 100-back (1:00.07) and 100-free (55.65), she secured second-place finishes. Wright followed those up with two more runner-up finishes as part of the 200-medley relay (1:55.26) and 200-free relay (1:44.09).

This is the first conference award for Wright, and first award won on the women’s side for Valpo this season. Junior Dylan Kirar (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) won the Summit League Swimmer of the Week award for the men after the first week of competition.

Wright and the Crusaders will be back in action for the Carthage Classic from Nov. 30 – Dec. 2 at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
