Valpo women’s swimmers Chiara Robinson (Castle Pines, Colo./Rock Canyon) and Erica Martins (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) were named to the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams both emerged with victories Friday, as they traveled to Mishawaka to take on the Bethel Pilots. The women won every event on their side, while the men won all but two events on their side.

Saturday afternoon, the Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams took on Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois at the ARC Pool in a tri-meet. Saturday’s event was Valpo’s Senior Meet, as prior to the meet, the Brown and Gold honored the eight members of their senior class.

The Valpo men’s and women’s swimming teams traveled to Terre Haute, Ind. to take on Rose-Hulman Friday afternoon. Mikayla DePover (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) and Paige Wright (Surprise, Ariz./Paradise Honors) led the women, each winning three individual events to lead the Brown and Gold to a win over the Fightin’ Engineers.


Saturday Swim Meet Canceled

Valpo Swimming head coach Maggie Kroemer announced today that Saturday’s (Jan. 11) scheduled swim meet against Western Illinois has been canceled. WIU will now travel to Valpo to join the previously scheduled Jan. 18 meet versus Eastern Illinois and make that a tri-meet. That day’s meet will be Valpo’s Senior Meet, celebrating the program’s senior class.

Sophomore Billy Bennett (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) had the top individual finish of the day with a third-place effort, while senior Paige Wright (Surprise Ariz./Paradise Honors) had a sixth-place finish individually and was also part of a sixth-place relay.
