Valparaiso University’s Andrea Bretl (Wauwatosa, Wis./West H.S.) has been voted to the Academic All-Horizon League Team for women’s swimming in balloting done by the league’s faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

The sophomore turned in the seventh fastest mile time in school history this season, 18:24.66, and also posted the eighth best 1000 freestyle mark ever at Valpo, 10:57.62.  She also had the team’s second fastest times of the season in the 200 and 500 free.

Bretl was named to the Horizon League’s Fall Academic Honor Roll this season and just recently garnered Valparaiso University’s Presidential Academic Honors for student-athletes.  A psychology major, she has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average.

To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester hours.
