Crusader Tennis Sees Mixed Results on Saturday

Jill Dierberg (Saint Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S.) won a pair of matches to advance to the consolation final of the B Flight at the Windy City Invitational on Saturday in Chicago.

Dierberg posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Alex Burleight of Gustavus Adolphus in her first match before downing Jenna O'Dell of Ferris State 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the consolation semifinals. She will meet Cristina Vlase in the consolation championship on Sunday.

In the A Flight, Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) won one of three matches on the day. She downed Vindya Dayananda of Chicago 6-3, 6-3 in her middle match. In the first contest, she fell in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to Jackie Vilines of Xavier (Ohio) and also dropped a 7-6 (2), 6-3 decision to Hannah Frericks of GA.

In doubles action, Janssen and Dierberg fell 8-4 to Jennifer Prisner and O'Dell of Ferris State.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
