Valparaiso continued its season-opening three-match road trip on Sunday morning, dropping a 7-0 contest against Bradley at the Clubs at River City in Peoria, Ill.

Bradley (1-0) opened the match allowing just five games in doubles and swept the singles contests, all in straight sets.

Doubles action started with the Braves’ Kim Braun and Erin Krubeck defeating Christine Antrobus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) and Camill Burden (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) 8-1 at the third spot while Jessica Buterbaugh and Kelly Donohue topped Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) and Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S.) by the same score at the second place.  At the top of the doubles lineup, Nicole Miller and Emily Regenold defeated Valpo’s Jenny Schwartz (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) and Molly Keifer (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) 8-3.

In singles, Bradley picked up wins at the bottom three spots in the order to secure the victory.  Buterbaugh was a 6-0, 6-1 victor against Antrobus at number four singles while Braun defeated York 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth spot.  Krubeck defeated Burden 6-0, 6-2 at number six singles.  The top of the lineup then saw Miller down Schwartz 6-1, 6-2 at number one while Regenold beat Keifer 6-3, 6-2.  Donohue finished the match at third singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Bilyeu.

“This was a tough match for us with people moving up in the lineup,” head coach Jay Adams said.  “With changes players need to get used to where they are playing.  The effort was good even though the scores don’t necessarily show it.”

Valparaiso (0-2) will close out its season-opening road trip on Tuesday afternoon with a 1 p.m. match CST against Ball State in Muncie, Ind.
