Molly Keifer (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) posted a victory at number one singles, but that would be the only point Valparaiso would get on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders fell to Oakland 6-1 at Matchpoint Tennis Club in Griffith.

Keifer earned a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 victory over Lindsay Grimmer at the top of the order in her first match at the top spot this season.

The Golden Grizzlies ould win the five other singles matches, all in straight sets though.  Amanda Scheer defeated Katie Bilyeu (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo H.S. 6-0, 6-1 at the second spot while Karen Karoub defeated Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) by the same score at number three singles.  Caitlin Young posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Christine Antrobus (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead H.S.) at the fourth slot while Jackie Dinicu had a battle from Jackie O’Reilly (DePere, Wis./DePere H.S.) before winning 6-3, 7-5 at number five singles.  Lisa Ludgjuraj finished the Oakland sweep in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Camill Burden (Richmond, Ind./Richmond H.S.) at the bottom of the order.

Oakland (1-0) also swept all three doubles matches.  Grimmer and Karoub downed Bilyeu and Julie Wingstrom (Dallas Lake, Ind./Westview H.S.) 8-4 at number one doubles.  Gabrielle Gogas and Michelle Maxwell defeated York and Keifer 8-2 at the second spot while Scheer and Young topped O’Reilly and Burden by the same score.

“In doubles, we did played well with a completely different line-up,” head coach Jay Adams said.  “I was really happy with the effort.  Molly played a great singles match today as well.”

Valparaiso (1-4) will return to the courts next Sunday evening to battle Western Michigan.  First serve is set for 5 p.m. CST in Kalamazoo, Mich.
