Valparaiso wrapped up its weekend homestand on Sunday morning with a 7-0 loss to Wright State at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
The Raiders jumped on top early by winning all three doubles contests. Abby Lewis and Masha Peresetsky defeated Megan Barthels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) and Kristin Zakiewicz (Bristol, Ind./Northridge H.S.) 8-2 at the top of the lineup while Alex Bastock and Kayla Tuscany were 8-4 victors over Kaitlyn Hamel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain H.S.) and Stephanie York (Elkhart, Ind./Jimtown H.S.) at the second spot. Amy Nin and Taylor Hines registered an 8-0 win over Angelina Goheen (Aurora, Ill./Rosary H.S.) and Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph’s H.S.) at the third spot.
Wright State (6-8, 1-1 Horizon) won all six singles matches in straight sets. Tuscany downed Barthels 6-2, 6-1 at number one while Peresetsky was a 6-3, 6-1 winner against Hammel at two. Bastock topped York 6-3, 7-5 at third singles while Nini defeated Fredlake 6-0, 6-2 at the fourth spot. Lewis defeated Zakiewicz 6-1, 6-2 at fifth singles while Chelsea Girgash rounded out the lineup with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Brittany O’Reilly (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest H.S.).
Valparaiso (4-7, 0-3) will return to the courts on Friday afternoon, traveling to DeKalb, Ill. to face Northern Illinois. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
