Valparaiso University junior Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week following the Crusaders 5-2 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay.

Sonkin won her seventh straight match playing at number one singles, downing her opponent 6-2, 7-6. She the teamed with Patricia Arakaki (Campo Grande, Brazil/LaPorte H.S., Ind.) for an 8-6 victory as the duo played at the number one doubles position for the first time this season. The win marked the doubles team's eighth straight triumph.

For Sonkin, this marks the second time she has been named Mid-Con Athlete of the Week this season, as she also earned the honor on October 2. She has earned the honor four times in her three-year career with the Brown and Gold.
