Crusaders Downed by Western Michigan

Valparaiso saw its two-match winning streak come to a close on Saturday evening as the Crusaders fell 7-0 to Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Broncos jumped in front winning the doubles point, taking all three matches. Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) and Kate Evangelist (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) played the tightest match for the Crusaders, falling 8-4 at the top spot.

In singles, Western Michigan won all six matches in straight sets. Janssen fell 6-1, 6-4 at first singles while Jenny Schwartz (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora H.S.) dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision at the fifth spot in the tightest two contests.

Valparaiso (4-3) will return to action at 11 a.m. Monday morning as the Crusaders host Ball State at Matchpoint Raquet Club.
