Due to inclement weather on Monday, the Valparaiso women's tennis team played a doubleheader Tuesday in Phoenix. The Crusaders fell to Grand Canyon in the morning, and Arizona Christian in the evening.

The Grand Canyon Antelopes recorded a 7-0 win in the first match of the doubleheader.

Priscilla Annoual and Tatum Prudhomme collected an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles opposite Kathleen Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek)/Kaitlyn Hamel (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain). The Lopes clinched the point at No. 3 after Lana Macukat and Lana Rinaldi's 8-2 triumph versus Michele Fredlake (South Bend, Ind./Saint Joseph's)/Megan Barthels (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central).

Grand Canyon tallied wins at each singles spot.

Macukat defeated Barthels, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5. Rinaldi followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Fredlake at the No. 6 slot.

Alexandra Petrzalkova secured the match at No. 4 singles by virtue of her 6-3, 6-0 victory versus Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster).

Annoual got past Hamel, 6-1, 6-2, atop singles play. Prudhomme defeated Hebble 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2, before Silvia Tumova provided the seventh point for Grand Canyon with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Valpo responded in the evening match with a narrow 4-3 loss to Arizona Christian.

The Crusaders swept doubles play with authority.

Hamel/Hebble won a 6-2 decision at No. 1 versus Andrea Crook and Mikayla Morgan, 6-2. Cary Milanes (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) and Heuer teamed up at No. 2 to secure the doubles point via a 6-2 triumph.

The Firestorm evened up the match at 1-1 thanks to Iulia Marcenco's 6-1, 6-1 win over Fredlake at No. 6.

Heuer temporarily reclaimed the lead for the Brown and Gold at No. 4 with her 6-2, 6-0 victory versus Rafaella Zak Zak. But the tug-of-war continued following Desiree Jackson's 6-2, 6-3 decision versus Hamel atop singles play.

ACU took a 3-2 lead at No. 3 following Morgan's 6-3, 6-4 win over Milanes.

Barthels kept the Crusaders alive thanks to her hard fought 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over Jessica Trink at No. 5.

With the match all squared at 3-3, it came down to the No. 2 singles match between Crook and Hebble. Both women battled back and forth before Crook collected a narrow 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory to give Arizona Christian the match.

Valpo will have a couple weeks to prepare for Horizon League action. UIC will visit the Courts of NWI on Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 pm.
