Crusader Women Fall to Bradley on Saturday

The Valpo women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 contest to Bradley on Saturday at the Clubs at River City in Peoria, Illinois. Freshman Randi Wind (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) took Malini Wijesinghe to three sets at No. 5 singles, but ultimately fell 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

The Braves swept doubles play. Ariel Dechter and Irinka Toidze scored a 6-0 win over Wind and Meg Modesto (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) at No. 2 before Ashley Thai and Alejandra de Lasa defeated Kathleen Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) and Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind./Munster) 6-2 at No. 1. Cary Milanes (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) and Erin Staal (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) suffered a 6-2 setback at No. 3 to Aimee Manfredo and Wijesinghe.

De Lasa gave Bradley a 2-0 lead after a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Modesto at No. 2 singles. Toidze got past Milanes by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Dechter clinched the match for the Braves at No. 1 after a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Hebble. Thai handed Roach a 7-5, 6-1 loss at No. 6. Wind's three-set loss to Wijesinghe gave the home team a 6-0 advantage. Manfredo concluded the day with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Heuer at No. 3. 

Valpo (0-2) will return to the court next Saturday in Muncie. Ball State (0-1) hosts the Crusaders in a 6:00 pm ET/5:00 pm CT match.
