Crusaders Second at DePauw Quadrangular

Valparaiso's women's track and field team finished in second place at the DePauw Quadrangular meet on Saturday afternoon in Greencastle, Ind.

The Crusaders tallied 189 points on the afternoon, trailing Indiana Wesleyan by 54. DePauw finished with 158 points, while Butler tallied 80.

Laura Arloszynski (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield H.S.) was a double-winner for the Crusaders, taking first in the 100m dash with a time of 12.74 seconds, the second fastest in school history. She also took top honors in the 200m with a time of 26.88 seconds.

Maggie Zellner (Downers Grove, Ill./Benet Academy) led Valpo to a top-three sweep in the 400m crossing the finish line in a time of 1:00.46. Mary Frisch (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) also was a winner at a 400m event, doing so in the hurdles with a time of 1:11.00.

Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) took first in the 3000m steeplechase with a six second victory in a time of 11:39.96.

Valpo's lone field event winner was Jessica Cherrington (Roseburg, Ore./Umpqua Valley Christian H.S.), who took the title in the javelin with a heave of 108'2".

The Crusaders will return to the oval next Saturday, April 10, as the Brown and Gold travels to Oxford, Ohio for the Miami (Ohio) Invitational. The first event begins at 8 a.m. CDT.
