Meyer and Hagen Set School Marks at Miami

Amanda Meyer (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) and Holly Hagen (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) each set new school records on Saturday afternoon at the Miami Invitational held in Oxford, Ohio.

As a team the Crusaders finished ninth with 19 points while the host RedHawks won with 187 points.

Meyer finished sixth in the pole vault clearing 11'3 ¾". Her mark bettered her own school record from last season by 7 ¾". Hagen also improved upon her own school mark set earlier this year in the hammer throw with a toss of 147'5". She placed fifth in the event.

Heather Furr (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield H.S.) and Jessica Cherrington (Roseburg, Ore./Umpqua Valley Christian H.S.) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the javelin. Furr turned in a toss of 110'1", while Cherrington's effort fell just one inch shy of her teammate.

On the oval, Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) finished third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:26.56, just .52 seconds out of a runner-up position. Elizabeth Whiting (Parma, Mich./Western H.S.) finished eighth in the 5000m with a time of 18:13.52.

The Crusaders will return to action next Friday and Saturday at the Pacesetter Invitational held in Terre Haute, Ind. Friday's action begins at 3:30 p.m. with Saturday's events beginning at 9:30 a.m.
