Umana Leads Crusaders in Hammer Throw Friday

Ini Umana (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) registered a career-best distance in the hammer throw Friday at the Miami Team Challenge in Oxford, Ohio as the Valparaiso women’s track and field squad kicked off competition in the two-day meet.

Umana posted a mark of 144’9” in the event on Friday, the third-best effort in the hammer throw in Valpo history.  Her distance was good for 13th place in the 41-person field.  Angie Brown (Gary, Ind./Wirt) also took part in the event, registering a best toss of 97’0”.

The Crusaders continue at the meet Saturday morning, as the first events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. CDT.
