Body Stars for Crusaders at Findlay Classic
Amanda Body finished third in the 200m dash and eighth in the 60m dash.

Senior Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) posted season-best times in two events, leading to two top-ten finishes, as the Valparaiso women’s track and field team competed Friday and Saturday at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, Ohio.

Body came home with a third-place finish in the 200m dash Saturday, posting a time of 25.78 seconds.  She also matched her season-best time in the preliminary round of the 60m dash of 7.97 seconds, and shaved another five one-hundredths off for a final time of 7.92 seconds, good for eighth place.

Valpo also had athletes competing in the throwing events at Findlay.  Freshman Natalie McCorriston (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) led the Crusaders in the shot put with a mark of 33’3 ¼”, while fellow freshman Lydia Hurlbert (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) led the way in the weight throw, registering a toss of 35’9 ½”.

The Crusaders return to the track next weekend, splitting up for a pair of meets.  Some Valpo athletes will take part in Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational, a two-day meet starting Friday, February 6, while most of the squad will head to the Tiger Invitational in Greencastle, Ind. on Friday evening.
