Amanda Body won the 200m dash for the second time this year.

Senior Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) showcased her versatility Friday at the Tiger Invitational in Greencastle, Ind., winning the 200m dash and posting two other top-ten finishes to lead the Valparaiso women’s track and field squad.

The Crusader women tallied 20 points on the meet, good for tenth place in the overall team standings.  Rend Lake took the team title with 147 points.

Body’s victory in the 200m dash came in a time of 25.89 seconds.  She has now finished among the top three finishers in the event in each of Valpo’s five meets this year to date, including two finishes atop the podium.

The senior also posted another top-ten finish on both the infield and the track Friday.  Body registered a leap of 17’3 ¼” in the long jump, good for an easy second-place finish.  She also finished in seventh place in the 55m dash, posting a time of 7.47 seconds.

Freshman Natalie McCorriston (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) also tallied a top-ten finish on Friday on the infield.  McCorriston recorded a season-best mark of 36’2 ¾” in the shot put to finish in ninth place.

Valparaiso returns to action on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville, Ill.  The first event is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
