Sophomore Jessica Richardson (Columbus, Ind./North) and junior Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) each posted fourth-place finishes on Friday to lead the Valparaiso women’s track team at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
Richardson posted a time of 36:47.16 in the 10,000-meter run.
Drozdowski set a season-best in the hammer throw with a distance of 170’ 7”. Her best mark came in her final attempt of the afternoon.
At the Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville, Ill., sophomore Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) cleared 5’ 0 ¼” to finish in a tie for third in the high jump.
Junior Haley Kerling (Rensselaer, Ind./Rensselaer) took seventh in the 10,000-meter run (40:14.60), while freshman Hannah Schilling (Fraser, Mich./Lutheran North) finished eighth (41:41.87).
Junior Marissa Crafton (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) placed 12th in the long jump with a best mark of 16’ 8”.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday with the final day of competition of both the Duke Invitational and the Chicagoland Championships.
