Drozdowski Throws for First, Taylor Jumps for Second at GVSU Tune-Up

Competing at the GVSU Tune-Up, Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) placed first in the weight throw, nearly topping her school record in the process. The senior threw for 60’7 ½”. Drozdowski now owns the top-two best distances in the Horizon League this season. Drozdowski also finished ninth in the shot put (41’4 ¼”).

Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) continued to impress in the high jump, taking second in the event. The junior was able to clear 5’5”, just an inch off of her recording breaking mark of 5’6”.

Elsewhere in the field events, Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) tied her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 11’7 ¾”. Peters placed eighth in the event.

Ann Chapman (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) took a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, clearing 33’8” – the best distance of the season for Valparaiso.

On the track for the Crusaders, Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) took fifth in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line at 59.52 – a team season-best. Wosick also ran a personal season-best of 27.30 in the 200-meter dash, good for tenth overall.

Nicole Zehel (Wixom, Mich./Lutheran Westland) placed seventh in the 1-mile run, finishing the race in 5:07.45 - a personal season-best.
