Hagen Sets Two School Marks at Butler Twilight Meet

Valparaiso University's Holly Hagen (Hobart,Ind./Hobart H.S.) set a pair of school records on Friday and Saturday as the Crusaders competed in the Butler Twilight Invitational held in Indianapolis.

The junior set the school mark in the shot put on Friday evening with her heave of 42'9 ½" to earn third place in the field of 26 competitors. On Saturday, she bettered her own school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 155'2", earning a runner-up finish.

Elsewhere on the infield, Jessica Cherrington (Roseburg, Ore./Umpqua Valley Christian H.S.) placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 115'9", while Amanda Meyer (Somerset, Wis./Somerset H.S.) finished in a tie for seventh in the pole vault clearing 9'6 ¼".

On the oval, Amanda Lee (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon H.S.) finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase crossing the finish line in a time of 11:24.92. Rachel Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit H.S.) turned in Valpo's other top-ten finish of the meet, placing eighth in the 800m with a time of 2:15.58.

In the sprints, Laura Arloszynski (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield H.S.) finished in a tie for 11th in the 100m dash, crossing the line in 12.93 seconds.

Valpo will take a week off for final exams before returning to action May 13-15 for the Mid-Continent Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held in Cedar City, Utah.
