Hagen Named Track and Field Athlete of the Week

Tuesday, February 01, 2005

Valparaiso University's Holly Hagen (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Week for Indoor Track and Field after her outstanding performance last Saturday at the Redbird Invitational.

The senior broke the Valpo school record in the shot put with her heave of 43'0 ½" (13.12m) to place third in the event. She also won the weight throw with her toss of 51'9 ¾" (15.79m).

Both marks rank Hagen second on the Mid-Con's season list of top performances.

Hagen becomes the second Crusader to earn Athlete of the Week honors this season, as Melanie Wilson (Saint Louis, Mo./Rosati-Kain H.S.) shared the honor back on January 18.
