Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill/Lake Park) and Kelly Freeman (Valparaiso, Ind./Chesterton) each recorded wins for the Valparaiso women’s track team at the IPFW Quadrangular at Fort Wayne, Ind. on Saturday.
The Crusaders dropped all four dual meets, falling to Butler (76.00-48.00), Detroit (90.00-36.00), Oakland (75.00-49.00) and IPFW (67.00-56.00).
Drozdowski took first in the weight throw with a toss of 52’11 ½”. She also placed second in the shot put with a distance of 42’11”.
Freeman cleared 10’6” to win the pole vault. Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) finished second, also clearing 10’6” but having more misses.
On the track, Cleo Holt (Marietta, Ga./George Walton Comprehensive) finished third in the 60-meter dash (8.06 seconds) and was seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.01 seconds).
Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.18.
Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took fifth in the high jump, clearing 5’1”.
Abbey Kenyon (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 15’2 ¾”.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Youngstown State National Invitational at Youngstown, Ohio.
