Taylor Takes Third at Redhawk Invitational

The Crusader women traveled to Miami (Ohio) University on Saturday to compete in the Redhawk Invitational. In their last meet before the Horizon League Championships. Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) led the Crusaders with a third-place finish in the high jump.

Taylor continued to impress in the high jump event on Saturday, clearing 5’3 ¼” for third place. Taylor now holds the five best marks in program history in the event.

In the discus throw, Megan Howdeshell (Bourbon, Ind./Triton Junior-Senior) finished fifth with a mark of 142’6” – a season-best and third-best all-time. Howdeshell also posted a season-best mark in the weight throw (145’4”).

Nicole Zehel (Wixom, Mich./Lutheran Westland) finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal season-best 4:44.49. Claire Johnson (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) also posted a personal season-best in the event (4:52.51).

Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) posted a season-best in the 400-meter dash, clocking at 1:00.06 for ninth-place.

Eileen Carmignani (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) rounded out the top-ten in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:36.13).

Malea Buck (Davenport, Iowa/Central) finished the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 1:08.50.

The Crusader women now have the week to prepare for the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, which will begin on Friday, May 2nd and run through Sunday, May 4th.
