Valpo Women Take Home Three Victories at IPFW Duals
Sarah Peters set a new meet record in the pole vault at the IPFW Duals.

The Valparaiso women’s track and field teams returned to the track with a winning day at the IPFW Duals. They defeated IUPUI 72-39, Butler 76-52, and Oakland 70-65, while falling to Detroit 93-55 and IPFW 78-64.

Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) continued her dazzling senior campaign as she won her fourth high jump title in a row with her mark of 1.60m/5-3.

In the pole vault, Sarah Peters (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Townships) set a new meet record en route to the title with her height of 3.50m/11-5.75. She broke the previous record by over 11 inches. Ashley Heisey (Shippensburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) finished two spots behind with her height of 2.60m/8-6.25.

Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon) sprinted to the title, and the fourth fastest time in Valpo history by .11, in the 400 meter dash, as she crossed the line in 59.97, the only runner to finish under a minute. She also finished eighth in 200m (27.84).

Megan Howdeshell (Bourbon, Ind./Triton) took the title in the weight throw with her toss of 15.59m/51-1 and finished in fifth place in the shot put (11.05m/36-3). She bested her third-best mark in the Valpo record books by five and a half inches.

Kim Heiny (Burnettsville, Ind./Twin Lakes) finished in fourth place in the 5000m as she crossed the line in 19:58.06.

Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) finished fifth in the one mile run (5:16.31) and 11th in the 800m (2:33.68).

Valpo returns to competition on Friday, Jan. 30 when they travel to the University of Findlay for the Findlay Open.
