Softball Drops Doubleheader to Murray State

The Valpo softball team kicked off the next-to-last weekend of regular season play with a doubleheader against visiting Murray State at the Valpo Softball Complex Saturday, falling to the Racers by final scores of 5-0 and 8-2. Freshman Natalie Bush (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) continued her recent hot streak at the plate with a trio of extra-base hits over the two games.

The Valpo softball team played its final nonconference games of the regular season Wednesday afternoon at the Valpo Softball Complex, falling to visiting Northern Illinois by final scores of 5-2 and 8-0.

Tuesday Softball Doubleheader Postponed to Wednesday

Due to rain in the forecast throughout the afternoon, the Valpo softball doubleheader versus Northern Illinois Tuesday afternoon has been postponed. The teams will attempt to play the twinbill on Wednesday afternoon at the Valpo Softball Complex, with game one starting at 1 p.m.

The penultimate week of regular season action brings five home games for the Valpo softball team. The Beacons step away from Valley action for the final time as they take on Northern Illinois in a Tuesday doubleheader before welcoming Murray State to campus for the first time for an MVC series this weekend.

Beacons Suffer Third Walk-Off Defeat of MVC Play

The Valpo softball team rallied from a four-run deficit thanks to long balls from freshman Natalie Bush (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) and senior Regi Hecker (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Blue Springs South), but eventually fell in walk-off fashion to host Missouri State, 5-4.

Valpo softball senior Regi Hecker (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Blue Springs South) was a perfect 3-for-3, including a home run, at the plate Saturday afternoon as the Beacons dropped the middle game of their MVC series at Missouri State, 12-1.

Valparaiso University Interim Director of Athletics Laurel Hosmer announced today that the University has partnered with Bowlsby Sports Advisors to assist with Valpo’s national search for its next softball head coach.
