Valparaiso University seniors Marc Boggio and Sean Peickert were selected to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Tournament Baseball Team.
Boggio, a pitcher/designated hitter from West Bloomfield, Mich./St. Mary's, pitched an 11-inning, complete-game victory over Western Illinois. In the 6-5 win that staved off elimination, Boggio struck out five and walked four, while allowing 10 hits. Boggio escaped two jams in the late innings when the Leathernecks had runners in scoring position with one out.
Peickert, a third baseman from Roseville, Minn./HS, batted .500 in three games, producing eight hits in 16 at bats. He led the Crusaders with four RBIs and five runs scored in the tournament. Peickert's hits included three doubles and one home run, and he compiled a .875 slugging percentage.
