A 6-for-12 weekend at the plate accented by six runs batted in, two doubles, and a pair of stolen bases fetched Valpo outfielder Nolan Lodden (West Des Moines, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley [Heartland CC]) Horizon League Batter of the Week honors, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Lodden boosted his batting average from .312 to a team-high .356 during the Crusaders' sweep of the Northern Kentucky Norse this past weekend in Highland Heights. He scored a run and drove in another in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Norse. Lodden swiped two bases in that contest as well. The senior saved his best for Sunday's finale, though. He finished the day 5-for-6 with two doubles, a run, and five RBIs in the Brown and Gold's 16-1 sweep-clinching triumph.
His .356 batting average and .442 on-base percentage both rank third in the Horizon League. His 17 runs scored equal the second-most by an HL player.
Lodden and the Crusaders (7-11, 3-0 Horizon) host Wright State (13-7, 3-0 Horizon) in a three-game set beginning Thursday at 3 pm CT.
