Valpo Baseball Sets Camp Dates

The Valparaiso University baseball team has set its summer camp dates for 2019.

The program will hold its annual Prospect Camp on Tuesday, June 18 at Emory G. Bauer Field. Position players will check in at 8:30 a.m. with the camp starting at 9 a.m. for position players. Those who are pitchers only will check in at 12:30 p.m. The cost of the camp is $125 for a position player or pitcher and $150 for pitching and hitting.

Valpo baseball camps provide players and teams with a competitive and educational experience. Sessions will be a balance of instruction, skills and game experience. Athletes will learn the latest methods in training and technique. All drills are specifically geared to prepare each camper for competition at the highest level.

The program has also set dates for its annual youth camp, which will be held from June 24-26 (Monday-Wednesday) for ages 7-12. The cost of the camp is $200 and it will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day at Emory G. Bauer Field. Campers will be responsible for packing their own lunch to eat during the daily lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Players will be broken into age-appropriate groups for the morning portion of youth camp in which they will participate in fundamental instruction on pitching, hitting, defense and base running. After lunch, players will participate in team-concept instruction (run downs, bunt defense, pop fly communication) before applying said instruction in a game-type setting. The camp will be run by the Valparaiso University baseball staff as well as local high school coaches, former Valpo baseball players and other baseball professionals.
