The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has announced that Emory G. Bauer Field and the Valpo Softball Complex have been upgraded with web streaming capabilities that will allow the department to stream home baseball and softball games on The Valley on ESPN this spring.

The Valpo Athletics web streaming crew, led by broadcast and streaming manager Ron Blatz, will produce 22 home games with 12 baseball and 10 softball contests airing on The Valley on ESPN. All of those games will be available on either ESPN3 or ESPN+.

This will mark the first time in program history that home Valpo baseball games will feature a video stream and the first time since joining the Missouri Valley Conference that softball contests will be streamed. Play-by-play broadcasters Todd Ickow and Brian Jennings will be among the voices heard on spring broadcasts and they will be joined by a variety of analysts.

The web streaming capabilities are part of the continued renovations at Emory G. Bauer Field. Lead gifts were received from Valpo alumni Lynn Scheutzow ’74 Young and Carl Young ’73 and the Deetjen family. Prior to last season, new turf was installed on the infield and down the foul lines. The facility recently received a new press box, and a new scoreboard is also being installed.

The first-ever video broadcast originating from Emory G. Bauer Field will take place on Wednesday, March 23 as the Beacons welcome Milwaukee at 3 p.m. The first Valley on ESPN broadcast at the Valpo Softball Complex will be on Saturday, April 2 for a noon doubleheader vs. Bradley.
