Valpo Cross Country Teams Garner Academic Accolades

The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s cross country teams have garnered recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their success in the classroom this year.

The 2019 Division I Cross Country Team All-Academic Awards were released this week, honoring teams from across the country. To be selected, teams must own at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Valpo men compiled a 3.39 grade point average, while the women’s team owned a 3.49 GPA, continuing a tradition of academic success for the Valpo cross country program.

At the conclusion of the fall season, Alexander Bruno (Bloomington, Ill. / University) was one of 12 runners named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team, while Katherine Germann (Cincinnati, Ohio / Finneytown) represented the Valpo women last spring on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Team selected by CoSIDA.
