Valpo Golf Trio Named All-America Scholars

The Valparaiso University men’s golf program continued its long-standing tradition of hauling in academic awards on Thursday as the 2023-24 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars were released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

A pair of seniors from the 2023-24 team – Mason Bonn (Sherwood, Ore. / Sherwood) and Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine)– were recognized along with rising senior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield).

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

These honors add to a long list of achievements both academically and athletically during another special season for the program. Head coach Dave Gring’s team made its second straight postseason tournament appearance by qualifying for the National Golf Invitational and had at least one individual participate in NCAA Regionals for the third straight year.
