Diego Calix celebrates with his teammates

The Valparaiso men’s soccer team is ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's Great Lakes Region Poll and received six votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men’s National Poll.

The Crusaders jumped up six spots in the regional poll after defeating former Horizon League rival Butler, 2-1, and upsetting then-#7 Michigan State in East Lansing, 1-0. This is the highest the Crusaders have ever been ranked in the regional poll. They are joined by Horizon League members UIC (sixth) and Wright State (seventh).

Valpo is the only Horizon League school to receive votes in the national poll and is receiving votes in the national poll for the first time. They continue action this week when they travel to Northwestern for a 9:30 pm CT game Wednesday and welcome Western Illinois to Brown Field for their home opener Friday night. Kickoff for Friday is 7:00 pm CT. Both matches will have live stats available through ValpoAthletics.com
