Valpo Falls to Wright State in Home Opener

            Valparaiso dropped its home opener on Saturday afternoon, falling 138-66 against Wright State at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

            Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) finished runner-up for the Brown and Gold in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:18.70.

            Ansel Hillmer (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough H.S.) placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.69 seconds while David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) was runner-up in the 100 free with a mark of 49.19 seconds.

            Kurtis Malone (Pekin, Ill./Pekin H.S.) had the second best score in the one-meter diving, posting 226.20 points, a personal best.

            “We had a good meet overall,” head coach Bryan Morrison said.  “Wright State came in and swam really well against us.”

            Valparaiso will return to the pool on November 17 when the Crusaders host Western Illinois in a 2 p.m. start at the ARC.
