Strongman, Januski Earn All-MVC Recognition

The Valpo volleyball team had a pair of players earn postseason recognition Saturday, as fifth-year middle Miranda Strongman (Wolverine Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Central [LIU]) was a First Team All-MVC honoree and senior middle Mallory Januski (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais) was named Second Team All-MVC.

Strongman averaged 2.18 kills/set on .301 hitting and 0.85 blocks/set during the regular season, numbers she bumped to 2.45 kills/set on .297 hitting and 0.93 blocks/set in Valley play. Twice this year, Strongman matched Valpo’s single-match record in a three-set match in the 25-point era with five service aces, while she hit .400 or better in seven MVC matches and reached double figures in kills nine times in Valley action. With a .304 hitting percentage during her time at Valpo, Strongman is poised to become the program’s leader in career hitting percentage.

Januski posted 2.31 kills/set on .312 hitting and 1.00 blocks/set during the regular season, pushing her blocks average to 1.07 blocks/set in MVC play. She ranks sixth both overall and in Valley-only play in blocks/set. Januski matched Valpo’s program record for blocks in a three-set match in the 25-point era with nine rejections at Indiana State and currently would rank third on the program’s single-season hitting percentage chart. She had eight efforts with five or more blocks within Valley play.

Strongman earns All-Conference recognition for the second time, but for the first time as a Beacon, as she previously was a Second Team All-NEC choice at LIU in the spring of 2021. Januski’s All-MVC honor was the first of her career.
