The Valpo volleyball program earned recognition Wednesday for its continued excellent work in the classroom, as the Beacons received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 academic year.

Valpo has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in each of the last 12 seasons. Going back further, the program has obtained the accolade in 19 of the last 21 seasons — a span in which Valpo has posted a .668 winning percentage on the court.

The team academic award is given to college and high school teams which display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The nominating head coaches must be AVCA members. Valpo was one of 11 programs in the Missouri Valley Conference for the 2023-24 academic year to be honored.
