Women’s Basketball Welcomes Jon Hill as Assistant Coach

Valpo women’s basketball head coach Mary Evans announced today that Jon Hill has joined the Beacons as an assistant coach. Hill comes to Valpo after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Lewis University.

“Jon is a defensive-oriented coach who is really connected on the recruiting side,” Evans said. “He will be great at developing our current players and will really help us continue to recruit quality student-athletes from the Midwest region.”

Hill was on staff last year at Lewis as it posted a 23-9 record. The Flyers won the GLVC regular season championship, in the process setting a program record for GLVC wins in a single season, and went on to claim the GLVC Tournament title as well, earning the conference’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

“I am absolutely ecstatic to join the Valpo women’s basketball program under head coach Mary Evans,” Hill said. “It’s an honor to be part of such a talented coaching staff and to have the opportunity to mentor and guide such a phenomenal, hard-working and high-energy group of players. I am excited to work alongside Coach Evans and the staff to help lead this team to new heights.”

In 2022-23, Hill helped lead Lewis to a 21-11 record. The Flyers finished in second place in the GLVC standings, advanced to the championship game of the GLVC Tournament and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to his time at Lewis, Hill spent two seasons on staff at Mother McAuley H.S., where he helped lead the Mighty Macs to a regional championship. Hill has over 20 seasons of coaching experience across the greater Chicagoland region, including a stint as an assistant coach at Roosevelt University, time as the head girl’s basketball coach at Thornton Fractional South H.S. and serving as an assistant director for the Example Sports AAU program which finished 2nd in the nation in 2020.
