The Valparaiso women’s tennis team saw its season come to a close on Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Oral Roberts in the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament semifinals in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Crusaders dropped the doubles point to begin the match after the Golden Eagles won the first and third doubles contests. Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) and Patricia Arakaki (Campo Grande, Brazil/LaPorte H.S., Ind.) teamed for an 8-5 victory for the Brown and Gold at second doubles for Valpo’s lone match win of the day.
In singles play, the Crusaders led in all three matches that were stopped, but dropped the other three as Oral Roberts won the match. The Golden Eagles were victorious at first, second, and fifth singles.
Valpo’s season comes to a close with a record of 8-7.
