Valparaiso saw its two-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders dropped a 5-2 match to San Jose State in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Spartans opened by winning the doubles point, sweeping all three matches.

Valpo (4-3) earned a pair of singles wins though, both in straight sets. Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Ashley Tavita at first singles. The Crusaders also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Kate Evangelist (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West H.S.) at the fourth spot.

The Crusaders will take Monday off before returning to action on Tuesday against Idaho State beginning at 5 p.m. CST in Las Vegas.
