Brian Thiel was the most prolific attacker in the history of the Valpo men’s soccer program and one of the most productive in conference history as well. He holds program career records with 39 goals, 16 assists and 94 points and ranks among the top-five in the Summit League (Mid-Continent Conference) all-time in both goals and points. Only one other player in Valpo history is within 10 goals and 35 points of his record-setting marks in those categories. A multiple time All-Conference and All-Region honoree, Thiel also holds the program single-season records for goals, assists and points. He is the only Valpo men’s soccer player with two hat tricks to his credit — both of which came within a five-day span his freshman season. A 1993 graduate of Valparaiso University, Thiel went on to play professional soccer for five years, both indoors in the Continental Indoor Soccer League & the National Professional Soccer League and outdoors in the United Soccer League.
