Wright State used a trio of sacrifice flies en route to a 4-1 victory over Valpo at Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio on Friday night.

Valpo took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a two-out RBI single from freshman Chad Jacob (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge). His eighth run batted in of the season scored Nolan Lodden (West Des Moines, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley [Heartland CC]), whose leadoff double immediately inserted him into scoring position.

The Raiders responded with a single tally in their half of the fourth. Michael Timm shot the right-center gap for a leadoff triple. He touched home two batters later on a sac fly off the bat of Mitch Roman.

Wright State manufactured its second run in the fifth, using another sac fly to snag a 2-1 edge. Sean Murphy cracked a double into the left-field corner to get things rolling. The WSU backstop advanced to third base after Matt Morrow's ground out to the right side of the infield.

WSU collected its third consecutive leadoff extra-base hit in the sixth which initiated the Raiders' third run.

Roman sent a Mario Losi (Anaheim, Calif./Canyon) delivery to the left-center fielf gap for his third triple of 2015. Center fielder Ryan Fucci lifted the first pitch of his at-bat against Losi to left for WSU's third sacrifice fly of the ballgame.

The Crusaders were unable to muster anything against a Wright State bullpen that worked five shutout innings. Valpo was able to put runners on, but none advanced past second base after the visitor's half of the fourth.

Losi was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs over seven innings. The sophomore surrendered six hits while striking out two and walking a pair. He's now 5-3 on the season.

Josh Clark (Granada Hills, Calif./Hillcrest Christian [Riverside City]) and Daniel Delaney (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks [Fresno State]) both stroked two hits apiece. Lodden's fourth-inning double represented the Brown and Gold's lone extra-base hit.

Valpo (21-28, 15-13 Horizon) and Wright State (37-14, 20-8 Horizon) will put the kibosh on the regular season Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm ET/11:00 am CT. ESPN3 will carry live coverage with live stats also available. Links to both are up at ValpoAthletics.com.
