Josh Dietz joined the Valparaiso University baseball staff in the fall of 2008 as a volunteer assistant and moved into a regular assistant coaching role prior to the 2009 campaign.
Dietz primarily works with the Crusader hitters, including Matt Lenski in 2009, who led the Horizon League in batting with a .406 average. He also handles a variety of day-to-day tasks within the baseball office.
He arrived at Valpo after serving as the head coach for the Bowling Green State University club team during the 2008 season as well as an assistant coach for the American Legion Post #27 in Plymouth, Ind. during that same summer. Dietz also played with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League in 2008.
Dietz was a four-year letterwinner as an infielder at Bowling Green, hitting .325 for the Falcons as a junior. He did not commit an error the entire season at first base as a senior.
Dietz is a 2008 graduate of Bowling Green, earning his bachelor’s degree in sports management while earning his master’s degree in sports administration in 2009 at Valparaiso.
