Final Round in Puerto Rico Washed Out

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team will not take the course as scheduled on Tuesday as the final round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, P.R. has been canceled due to rain. The course is saturated after heavy overnight rain and the tournament has been cut short due to unplayable course conditions.

Valpo finished the shortened event tied for seventh in a competitive 17-team field and broke the program record for 36-hole tournament overall score (557) and 36-hole tournament score in relation to par (-19). The previous 36-hole tournament team records were held by the performance at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in March 2022 (560, -8).

Junior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) enjoyed a top-10 finish in the 107-player field, finishing tied for fifth. He established a new program record for 36-hole tournament score both overall (135) and in relation to par (-9). The previous records were shared by Zach Cutler at the 2016 Notre Dame Kickoff Classic and Yianni Kostouros at the 2022 Twin Oaks Intercollegiate (137, -5).

The Beacons will return to action on Tuesday, March 12 to begin the GCU Invitational in Phoenix. A link to live scoring will be available on ValpoAthletics.com.
