Amanda Body (Harlan, Ky./Harlan) took the event victory in the 200m dash and posted two other top-five finishes, leading the Valparaiso women’s track and field team as it competed Friday evening at the Chicagoland Championships in Chicago, Ill.
The Crusaders tallied 26 points on the meet, good for a tenth-place finish out of 21 competing teams. The host University of Chicago took the team championship with 150 points.
Body completed the 200m dash in 25.38 seconds to take individual top honors, as only two other runners were even within a second of her time. She also ran a time of 12.31 seconds in the 100m dash finals while finishing fourth, the fastest non-wind aided time in school history. On the infield, the senior recorded a leap of 17’5 ¾” in the long jump, good for a third-place finish.
Alyssa Bradford (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) also tallied a top-five finish on Friday, as the junior completed the 800m run in 2:25.07, good for fourth place. Sara Christensen (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) came home tenth in the 1,5000m run, crossing the line in 5:09.03, while in the throws, freshman Natalie McCorriston (Lansdowne, Pa./Cardinal O’Hara) tied for tenth with an effort of 35’9” in the shot put.
Valparaiso returns to the track next Saturday, April 18 at the Dave Rankin Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The first event is slated for a 9 a.m. CDT start.
