Rachel Nelson (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit H.S.) and Amy Mikel (Lemont, Ill./Fenwick H.S.) both competed in the mile for Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind.

Both ran season bests on the afternoon. Nelson finished in the top half of the field with a time of 5:03.27, earning 15th place out of 36 athletes. Mikel finished ten seconds behind Nelson with a time of 5:13.45.

Valpo will return to action next Friday when the Crusaders travel to Lewis. The meet kicks off at 4:30 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
