Valpo Finishes Indoor Season at HL Track Championship

The Valparaiso women’s track and field team concluded their indoor season on Sunday at the Horizon League Indoor Championship at Youngstown State. The Crusaders finished in a tie for sixth place with 34 points.

Jazmin Taylor (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) took second in the high jump as she cleared 1.62m/5-3.75.

Liz Bloy (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) shaved ten seconds off her season best in the mile as she crossed the finish line in 5:00.27 and finished in third place. Tori Tamburrino (West Dundee, Ill./Jacobs) also ran a season best 5:37.53 to finish in 13th place. Bloy also took tenth in the 3,000 meter run, crossing the line in 10:31.70.

The 4x400 meter relay of Hannah Reynard (Jackson, Mich./Napoleon), Allison Baylor (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), Asia Banks (Richton Park, Ill./Marian Catholic), and Kelli Wosick (Mount Prospect, Ill./Saint Viator) set the second fastest time in school history as they crossed the line in 4:01.79 to finish in sixth place.

The Crusaders start their outdoor season on March 12 at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
