The good news continues to flood in for the Valparaiso University men’s golf program.
Two members of the Valparaiso University men’s golf program survived the first round of qualifying for the U.S. Open on Monday, as junior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) and fifth-year senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) earned qualifying status at the 18-hole event, which was held at Morris Park Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
Three members of the Valparaiso University men’s golf program were among the top-5 finishers as the Beacons completed the third and final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship on Tuesday at the par-72, 7060-yard Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo. Junior Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) climbed six spots on the leaderboard to finish third thanks to a stellar final round, while fifth-year senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) closed out a runner-up finish among 50 competitors in his final league tournament.
A pair of Valparaiso University men’s golfers are among the top three on the player leaderboard and a trio are in position for top-10 finishes at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which held its second of three rounds on Monday at the par-72, 7060-yard Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo. Stalwarts Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) and Anthony Delisanti (Sanborn, N.Y. / Niagara Wheatfield) are among the tournament leaders, but freshman Adam Melliere (Zionsville, Ind. / Zionsville) has been a surprise story of the tournament as he currently sits in second.

The Valparaiso University men’s golf team has enjoyed a special – and in terms of the program’s history, unprecedented – run of success over the last several seasons, about that there’s little doubt. Although the temptation to bask in the glory of the trophies, records and achievements exists, the Beacons are laser-focused on the task at hand.

For the 19th and final time in his distinguished collegiate career, Valparaiso University fifth-year senior Caleb VanArragon (Blaine, Minn. / Blaine) is the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week.
After finishing the first round tied for 13th and the second round tied for seventh, Valparaiso University men’s golf fifth-year senior continued his climb on the leaderboard during Sunday’s third and final round of the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State at the par-71, 7171-yard Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa. In fact, VanArragon climbed all the way into the top spot in the 78-player field, earning medalist honors to pace the Beacons.
