The Valparaiso University women’s tennis team continued to play shorthanded in a 7-0 defeat to Milwaukee on Sunday at Match Point Tennis Club in Griffith. Valpo once again played with four players due to injuries and illness.
How It Happened
- Milwaukee (2-4) won both doubles matches and took the third by forfeit. The closest doubles match came at No. 1, where Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Academy) and Isabella Schoolcraft (Bargersville, Ind. / Center Grove) fell 6-4 to Alex Belle and Mayya Perova.
- All four singles matches ended in straight sets, while the Panthers took No. 5 and No. 6 by forfeit. Jordan Kopfer (Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) put up a strong fight at fourth singles against Milwaukee’s Nikki Milner, but ultimately lost 7-6(0), 6-4.
- The No. 3 singles match also featured tight sets as Randi Wind (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) fell 6-3, 7-6(4) to Nicole Clarke.
