Cross Country Tunes Up for Championships at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals

The Valparaiso University men's and women's cross country programs had their final tune-up prior to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship this week. With the league meet looming in two weeks, the Beacons took part in the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis. on Saturday.

How It Happened
  • Junior Joseph Scheele (Mahomet, Ill. / Mahomet-Seymour) paced the Beacon men with an 8K of 25:35.4.
  • Scheele was followed closely by sophomore Karson Hollander (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Crystal Lake), who stopped the clock in 25:42.1 to finish second on the team. Junior Brooks Julian (Olney, Ill. / Richland County [Southeastern]) was the next Beacon across, posting a time of 26:54.6.
  • In the women's 6K, the first Valpo runner to finish was redshirt freshman Laetitia Raoult (Giungamp, France). She posted a time of 22:02.9.
  • Two Valpo women both boasted 6K season bests. Sophomore Vivian Rahmel (Springfield, Ill. / Sacred Heart-Griffin) narrowly outdid her previous best from the Mizzou Gans Creek Classic with a time of 23:06.5. She was followed closely by freshman Kensington Black (Franklin, Ohio / Franklin Senior), whose time of 23:07.9 was her 6K season best as well.
